6th Kyu

Date: August 4, Thursday

PASSED!!

Although, I felt like getting sick towards the end...All I could think of was not to tip over for Shumatsu Dosa...

Accidentaly, I let David's hands go when I was just about to do Yonkajo Osae the right side...was surprised but did not panic, the left side, I went through as slow as possible and tried not to miss a point...

Techniques:

  1. Shomen Uchi Yonkajo Osae-1
  2. Shomen Uchi Sokumen Iriminage-2
  3. Kata Mochi Hijishime-1
  4. Shomen Uchi Ikkajo Osae-2

Techniques in Details:

1. Shomen Uchi Yonkajo Osae-1

  • Shomen Uchi strike (writst and elbow)
  • Get elbow and change angle towards front foot
  • Get down Uke as Ikkajo (try to keep Uke's elbow in front of own knee)

4. Shomen Uchi Ikkajo Osae-2

  • Block shomen uchi getting Uke's elbow with strong thumb and baby finger
  • Move Uke's elbow towards his ear and over 180 degree pivot after he starts moving
  • Keep the elbow in front
  • Start moving forward from knee make Uke start moving
  • Shift and get Uke down (Hiriki no Yosei-2 shifting)
  • Put down Uke's arm putting own knee down
  • Stretch
  • Ikkajo Osae

David and I agree; Getting the elbow in the right angle and make the biggest pivot would do 80% of the technique, cool :)

I love this technique! Its very simple, but very strong. I experienced the hardest smash onto the mat with my knee when our lovely teacher, Roland did it on me with San nin Dori pace. I could not laugh with the pain for the first time...its a killer!

  • Cross another and get Uke down and land parallel to Uke
  • Twist shoulder again
  • Face Uke's ear
  • Change hand sliding Uke's hand upper
  • Make sure to close the gap with Uke's hand
  • Change angle
  • Osae
